Diverse experience, wide knowledge base, commitment and several-year-long successful cooperation makes our team your perfect partner!

About team

Our team has four members: Domagoj Badanjak, Alen Hrga, Ivan Pavić, and Ivan Sudić. All members are researchers either finalizing or already finalized their PhD studies.  They worked together at the Department of Energy and Power Systems (at Faculty of Electrical Engineering under University of Zagreb) and know each other for several years. Jointly, they participated on numerous scientific, research, teaching and industry projects. Domagoj Badanjak and Ivan Pavić are power system engineers and are familiar with energy technology, regulations, legislative, markets, end-user and their issues . Domagoj is expert for distribution level electricity and flexibility markets, while Ivan worked on challenges connected with wholesale markets and system-wide operation. Ivan Sudić is expert in AI and he worked on algorithms for wind power, electricity price, transmission grid losses forecasting etc. Our product (metering, cloud, end-customer interface, communications) is wrapped under adequate ICT solution which is under jurisdiction of our ICT expert Alen Hrga. In addition to our experience and domain roles, each of the team members hold certain company roles. Ivan Sudić took the executive and administrative role, Alen is in charge for technology development, Domagoj deals with marketing and customer acquisition, while Ivan Pavić works on finance issues, business model and product development. We are one complete team which is able:

  • to fully understand the electricity user challenges,
  • to create a technical solution based on advanced technology to solve those challenges,
  • to grow a company which will be able to supply all the users with the required solutions!

Domagoj Badanjak

Domagoj Badanjak

Domagoj graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb with a one-year student exchange at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany. He started his professional career in November 2019 at the Department for Energy and Power Systems of the faculty where he graduated, and at the same started his PhD in early 2020. Accelerated transition to renewable energy sources and the general trend of reliance on distributed energy sources put the focus of research work on the flexibility of the distribution system and the development of markets at the distribution level followed by business models that would ensure this flexibility. He is a participant in several scientific research projects, both domestic and those with international partners. Currently, he has published 2 papers in scientific journals and several conference papers. In addition to flexibility at the distribution level, the research topics he is also interested in are energy markets – design and participation strategies, power system-aware development of electromobility, and investment analysis. Part of his doctorate (10/2022-04/2023) is also spent on professional training at the American company Quanta Technology. Despite currently having no formal education in economics, he was a member of the Financial Club’s macroeconomic group. He participated in numerous startup and entrepreneurial programs such as FER’s SPOCK and the BAIF program. At Green Energy Pal, he is, among other things, responsible for the development of marketing and sales strategies, the development of some platform services and relations with partners.

Alen Hrga

Alen graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb in 2018. During his studies, he worked as a software developer in several IT companies and was an active member of student associations and the student union of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. He is the organizer of the first “Blockchain development” meetup in Zagreb and several workshops on blockchain technology and information security for students, for which he received the Rector’s Award in 2017. Since 2018, he has been working as an senior researcher at the Department of Energy and Power Systems. His research work is related to the application of state-of-the-art blockchain technologies and generally distributed ledgers in energy and power systems, namely in the field of energy communities, electricity markets and accompanying communication platforms. In addition to research work, he participated in several European projects related to charging stations for electric vehicles, the application of augmented reality in electrical facilities, all in cooperation with industry. At Green Energy Pal, he is in charge of system architecture, software planning and development, creation of user web applications and general work on IT infrastructure.

Ivan Pavić

Ivan Pavić

Ivan’s career is connected to Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Zagreb where he received his master and PhD degree and worked from 09/2014-09/2022. During PhD study he spend one year on specialization at Beijing Jiaotong University in Beijing, China. He participated in teaching in courses such as electricity markets, economics of energy systems, operational planning and maintenance of power systems etc. His research work is connected to numerous scientific projects (more than 10) and, so far, he published 12 scientific journal papers and presented on more than 30 conferences. He received several awards for his research activities: as the best power system PhD student, for excellent PhD thesis, and for all his scientific activities so far. Topics of his research are electricity trading (electric vehicles, power plants, renewable sources), energy market design, energy system balancing, multi-energy approach (electricity, hydrogen, natural gas, water supply etc). He provided consultancy services to  many regulated energy institutions, big energy corporations, and investors in renewable and other energy technology. From 10/2022 he works as a researcher at University of Luxembourg. He participated in different startup and entrepreneurship programs and is currently enrolled to financial MBA program at Swiss School of Business and Management in Zagreb. He is one of the founders of Green Energy Pal where he is, among other things, responsible for development of business models and products, finance, energy consulting, development of optimization algorithms, web design etc.

Ivan Sudić

I have 2 goals in life. First goal: To leave a better world for future generations by reducing climate change impact. Second goal: To leave better future generations for our world by education that is broad, deep and far-reaching. My mindset is one part idealism and two parts pragmatism. Idealizam to keep the motivation high, pragmatism to get projects done. My strengths are first principle thinking and always looking for a win-win deal. Trained as a physicist I started my work in developing diamond sensors for future nuclear fusion powered power plants (ITER project). Staying in CO2 zero-emission sources I participated in projects that deal with data science in electric vehicles, renewable energy and power systems. My current position is research scientist working at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, in the Department of Energy and Power Systems. I use data science tools to tackle energy and power systems challenges with the primary focus on time series forecasting. I also mentor a lot of students in the same topic for their bachelor and master thesis. I generally love giving learning opportunities to young motivated students both through official positions and through volunteering in Society for Out-Of-Frame Education. In Green Energy Pal I focus mostly on company long term vision, machine learning systems design, hardware configuration and getting everyone organized so that we perform optimally.
